General information. Veterinary Assistant Courses
Total amount of training: 200 acad. hours, including classroom and practical work 200 acad. hours

The course program of Veterinary Assistant Courses is based on the professional standard “Veterinary Technician” of the European classifier of professions ESCO (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations)
Teaching methodology
The training consists of lectures that are held online in ZOOM. For the demonstration of the practical work are used video materials.
Educational materials. Veterinary Assistant Courses
Each student receives learning materials in PDF Format. The student receives the learning materials after paying for the tuition and crediting the payment to the current account of the education centre. After receiving the payment, the education centre provides the student with access to the personal account. The student’s learning materials are located in the personal account. Video materials are sent in the appropriate video format. The cost of training materials is included in the course price.
Description of the learning environment
Training is conducted online via ZOOM.
Conditions of graduation
The course is considered as completed, after the student has passed all the subjects prescribed in the curriculum, in the amount provided by the curriculum. The exam is conducted in the form of an examination test according to the course program. The exam is counted as passed if the student has completed at least 60% of all tasks of the test. At the end of the course, the student receives a certificate of completion or certificate of attendance of the course.
Documents the student receives
A certificate of completion of the course is issued if the student has attended at least 70% of the classes, completed at least 70% of the homework and independent work and/or passed the course exam. If a student attended less than 70% of classes, completed less than 70% of homework and/or did not pass the course exam, then upon completion of the course he will be issued a certificate of attendance of the course.
The certificate of completion of the course contains the student’s personal data and school data, learning outcomes (knowledge and practical skills that the student has acquired as a result of the training), the scope of the curriculum, the period of study, a list of teachers.
The certificate of attendance of the course contains the student’s personal data, school data, the number of academic hours of study attended by the student, the period of study, a list of teachers.
Both certificates are issued in English.
A veterinary assistant graduate assists the veterinarian in the provision of services. Knows how to communicate with clients (including the owner or caretaker of the animal). Ensures the smooth operation of the veterinary institution, performing duties related to ordering and purchasing medicines. Monitors and ensures the smooth operation of equipment. Monitors the status and working tools. Assists the veterinarian in diagnostic procedures. Carries out animal care and procedures in accordance with the instructions and under the guidance of a veterinarian.
- Veterinary assistant courses are designed for individuals with at least a secondary education and experience in long-term communication with animals, experience in a nursery and other experience in keeping animals, including at home;
- Veterinary assistant courses are suitable for medical professionals who want to change their field of activity;
- Veterinary assistant courses are suitable for those who have a professional education but no work experience.
At the end of the course, the trainee has the following knowledge and skills:
- organizes and conducts work in the registry of a veterinary institution;
- carries out the order of medicines, in accordance with the order of the veterinarian;
- advises the client on home care based on the recommendations of the veterinarian;
- assists at the reception and during procedures;
- provides care for animals in the vet stationary.

1. Organization of work in the registry and reception of the veterinary clinic (36 acad. hours)
1.1. Animal identification. Creating a Primary History
1.2. Communication with the client. Good Veterinary Practice Rules. Basic First Aid.
1.3. Rules for elementary fixation of an animal, considering the requirements of labor protection.
1.4. Arrangement of inpatient treatment
1.5. Advising a client on home care. Advising on the maintenance, feeding, behavior, training, and health of animals
1.6. Provision of the veterinary clinic with the necessary medicines and goods. Control of stocks of medicines, expiration dates, storage conditions. Client consulting
1.7. Condition monitoring and maintenance of equipment and practice rooms
2. Assisting at the reception and performing diagnostic procedures (40 acad. hours)
2.1. Collection of analytical material, labeling and storage
2.2. Preparation for shipment and shipment of analytical material in accordance with the instructions of the veterinarian
2.3. X-rays
2.4. Diagnostic procedures. Assisting in diagnostic procedures as directed by the veterinarian
3. Animal care (44 acad. hours)
3.1. Preparation of a place in a hospital. Monitoring the general condition of the patient
3.2. Filling out a medical history and treatment sheets as directed by the veterinarian
3.3. Feeding animals, walking animals in accordance with the instructions of the veterinarian, considering the basics of feeding, behavior, and maintenance of animals
3.4. Cleaning, washing and other care of animals in the hospital
3.5. General Animal Care Procedures
3.6. Preparation and processing of reusable replacement materials in accordance with the requirements for infectious diseases and their prevention
3.7. Labeling of cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs in accordance with current legislation
4. Assistance during medical procedures under the guidance of a veterinarian (32 acad. hours)
4.1. Administering prescribed medications to the animal as instructed by the veterinarian
4.2. Assistance in medical and physiotherapy procedures, including wound care
5. Preparation for surgical operations, assistance and control of anesthesia (48 acad. hours)
5.1. Preparing the operating room for surgery
5.2. Surgical instruments. Preparation of surgical instruments
5.3. Checking the working condition of equipment and tools
5.4. Preparation of the animal for surgery, in accordance with the instructions of the veterinarian
5.5. Assisting the veterinarian in carrying out procedures
5.6. Monitoring and recording the condition of the animal after surgery
5.7. Labor safety rules in the veterinary clinic and hospital
